Exterior Painting Services
Rendered Walls
Rendered exteriors are common across Chesterfield’s 1930s and 1950s housing stock in Hasland, Walton, and Brimington. Derbyshire winters are hard on painted render. Frost-driven moisture penetrates poorly maintained surfaces and lifts paint from underneath.
Before painting, we check for structural cracks, hollow areas, and poorly bonded render. Loose sections are hacked back and replastered. Cracks are filled with flexible exterior filler. We specify flexible, breathable masonry coatings that move with the render rather than cracking.
Brickwork and Stone Exteriors
The Victorian and Edwardian terraces in Brampton and Newbold are built in local brick. Where painting is required, preparation determines how long the finish holds.
Properties on the Peak District fringe toward Wingerworth are often built in stone. Stone needs breathable coatings. Standard masonry paint seals the surface and traps moisture, leading to paint failure and spalling.
Windows and Woodwork
Timber sash windows, fascias, soffits, and front doors: all prepared correctly and finished to last.
Chesterfield’s period properties often have original timber panel doors and sash windows with decades of paint layers. Your decorator strips back to sound timber, patches any rot, and primes correctly. Painted sashes are checked to slide freely when we leave.

Fascias, Garden Walls, and Full Exterior Cover

Fascias, Soffits, and Guttering
Fascias and soffits are often the first elements to show weathering on Chesterfield’s 1930s and post-war semis. Your decorator cleans, prepares, and paints timber fascias, or advises on uPVC repainting where replacement is not practical. Guttering can be painted with the right primer and exterior paint.
Garden Walls and Outbuildings
Boundary walls, gate piers, and outbuildings need the same care as the main house. Your decorator assesses the material and specifies accordingly. For rendered outbuildings in Hasland or Walton, the same breathable approach applies.
All Exterior Services
We cover every exterior surface type as dedicated services: masonry painting, fence painting, deck painting, shed painting, door painting, front door painting, window frame painting, and wood painting.

Here’s How It Works
1. Site Assessment
Your decorator visits and check every surface — material, existing coating, renders condition, and any biological growth. We identify structural repairs needed before painting starts.
2. Surface Preparation
We clean moss, algae, and loose material. Render is repaired where needed. Timber is stripped to sound material. Biological growth is treated and allowed to clear before we proceed.
3. Priming
Stone and render get a masonry primer suited to the surface. Bare timber gets an oil-based or specialist timber primer. The right primer for each surface makes the difference between a finish that lasts and one that fails early.
4. Paint Application
Exterior paint needs dry conditions and temperatures above 5 degrees to cure properly. We monitor forecasts and plan application phases around Derbyshire’s unpredictable weather. Two finish coats are standard; high-exposure surfaces get a third.
5. Inspection and Touch-Up
Once the final coat has cured, all surfaces in good light are inspected. Touch-ups are done before we leave. Your decorator walks through the finished work with you before closing the job.
